Do you keep making the same resolution?

Are you trying to draw closer to Our Lord?

And is there one habit you keep meaning to master, and keep going back to?

Most of us have made that resolution more than once. We make it in Lent. We make it after a good confession. We mean it every time.

The virtue you are reaching for has a name.

The Catechism calls it temperance, and counts it among the four cardinal virtues (CCC 1805). Cardinal, from the Latin for hinge. The moral life turns on it.

Temperance is command over your own appetites. It is the virtue that lets a man keep the resolution he made.

At Fatima, Our Lady asked for two things above all. She asked for the daily Rosary. She asked for penance and amendment of life.

Those two requests belong together. The Rosary is where the strength for the second one comes from.

The Rosary of Temperance is Violet.

Violet is what the Church wears in Advent and in Lent, the two seasons she sets aside for penance and preparation.

So the beads carry their own reminder. Every time you take them out of your pocket, the colour tells you what you are asking for.

We would like to send you one.

It costs you nothing, and all we need from you is your name and an address to post it to.

What it gives us is the chance to write to you: about Our Lady, about the message of Fatima, about the Rosary, and about the work of winning this country back for her.

And what your name tells us is that you are with us.

Request your Rosary below and keep Our Lady close in your daily life.
